  OUR STORY

Hello,

My name is Joe Hok. I am a Suqpiaq (Alutiiq) from the small village of Old Harbor on Kodiak Island. Fishing has been a huge part of my life. I grew up surrounded by the ocean, subsistence fishing for my family and commercial fishing as a young man. I have always thought how can I do my job more efficiently; how can I get better? Hard work ethic and determination has provided me with the knowledge and experience needed to open this business.

For the past 15 years I have overseen the production of hundreds of gillnets for fishermen throughout Alaska. I have experience working with every fishery in Alaska: salmon seining, gillnetting, longlining, and crabbing.

With a lifetime of knowledge and experience I would love to pass this on to our younger generation of subsistence and commercial fishermen. I have worked in every fishery in

Personally, I have seen how dire it is to teach the production and repair of gillnets to our youth and fishermen of all ages the trades of keeping  our culture alive. Whether you do it for commercial or subsistence, fishing is more than a passion, more than just a job, it’s a WAY OF LIFE!
